Timeless {Portraits}

Sunday, January 15th, 2012

Another image from my practice studio shoot with Sarah. This one was taken with the Lensbaby.  I love how classic it looks.

I’ve been a little busy with our Support Baby Keslar campaign and the Yellow Ribbon Giveaway.  I hope everyone has time to support, share and enter the giveaway!

My second favorite season {Life}

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

My second favorite season is most definitely Spring! I love all of the little flowers that spring up. This one was taken on the first week I got my dSLR back in ’09. Man, I wish I hadn’t gotten rid of that lens! It had really cool bokeh.

Make a little mess {Lensbaby}

Monday, January 9th, 2012

Monty is my pet eclectus…and boy does this guy love pomegranate! I couldn’t help but snap a few photos today of him with his messy beak. Enjoy!

Two great loves {Lensbaby}

Sunday, January 8th, 2012

What girl doesn’t love a great pair of heels? Personally I have a boot fetish, and I just adore red patent.  This picture has both!

We had a blast at Ventana Vineyards on Friday, and this is one of our parting shots for the chickies wearing awesome shoes. Can you say HOT?  Jessica Rabbit would be proud!

Lift your glasses {Lensbaby}

Saturday, January 7th, 2012

Everyone please lift your glasses tonight and toast: to friends, family, and those wonderful things that come into your lives for but a moment and then go. We get few things in life to us that mean so much and we often take them for granted. I hope you will take a moment and remember what you love and cherish it.

Tonight I raise my glass in honor of Betty the blue and gold macaw who passed away quite suddenly. Betty was the foster bird of a friend here in Monterey and was very loved.

Photo taken at Ventana Vineyards at a glorious wine tasting with a few friends on Friday.

Today is a special day {Announcements}

Friday, January 6th, 2012

My beautiful lovebird Skittles is 9 years old today. She’s the one that started by bird-crazy nature.  I love her to pieces! Skittles was bred by Carrie at CLJ Aviary in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Today is also shared with the birth of baby Josh, born at only 26 weeks to my friends Rachel and Josh. No photo from me but so far they (well, me too!) are trying to be optimistic.  In honor of baby Josh I will be volunteering to donate free sessions to families of preemies here in the Presidio of Monterey area.  Please contact me if you are interested.

Great bokeh {Life}

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

My favorite thing about this photo is the bokeh and the stream of sunshine coming through. You’ll never guess where I took this picture!

Sweet Home Virginia {Local}

Wednesday, January 4th, 2012

Perhaps it’s not as local as you might thing.  At one point, Lynchburg and the surrounding area was very near and dear to my heart.  My school, Sweet Briar College, was located about 20 minutes outside of town.  I don’t recall the exact location where this was taken, but it remains a favorite from my scapes collection.  Do you prefer the black and white or color version best?

Big Sur and beyond {Local}

Monday, January 2nd, 2012

If you take a drive down route 1, about an hour south of Monterey are some of the most gorgeous stretches of beach and coastline I’ve ever seen.  As you leave Monterey, you pass Pebble Beach, Carmel, and eventually make it to Big Sur.  I travelled there a few months ago when my in-laws came to visit.  It was foggy and boring, as the weather is typically.  However, at the bridge the fog was a blanket hovering a few hundred feet from the ground. As we drove further, we stopped to see the sun beneath this blanket at the most incredible lagoon.  Let the pictures speak for themselves…it was gorgeous!

In memory of Sin {Pet}

Sunday, January 1st, 2012

2012 is off to a very sad start.

My brother’s lovebird, Sin, passed away a few hours ago. Little Sin only lived 9 months and she brought much joy to my family back on the East coast.  Sin was bred at Jill’s Bills in Virginia.

You might know that I am the proud owner of six birds of my own, including one lovebird.  I also volunteer at a bird rescue centered around providing medical care and homes for birds.  I know the pain my brother suffers through.  This is a photo of her from when I visited in May of last year.  Poor baby.

Fly free and fly high Sin. Light up the skies the way you lit up our lives.
