Sadly, today I must write a…confession? Letter of apology? Resignation letter? I’m not quite sure what to call it.
I love photography with all of my heart. Short of becoming an Olympic equestrian (a dream I gave up when I was about 16), I doubt there are many dreams that rank as high on my list as becoming a professional photographer. In the past two years, I’ve worked to learn how to start ASP. I’ve learned how to blog, how to use Photoshop, Lightroom, bought a dSLR, salivated over the new Mark III, and had an affair with my computer. My college major was designed around someday having my own photography and design company. 2011 brought some fun changes to my life and great new experiences with photography. I’ve developed my niche here in Seaside and expanded upon my portfolio.
2011 brought with it circumstances beyond my control. Because of these, I am unable to pursue photography as a paid profession. I am resigning myself to hobbyist. I’ve debated about sharing my condition publicly. I see it as a personal issue. I also see it as something that my fans, many of whom I consider friends, might consider worthwhile to know about me. I have had trouble dealing with the pain. I have had to turn down jobs because my turnaround times are getting longer and longer and I feel that is unprofessional. I’m happy to refer any potential clients to appropriate photographers.
If you’re interested in hearing the nitty gritty, please continue reading. If not, I hope to be back some day, full-throttle. In the meantime, I promise I’ll keep posting gorgeous photos for you to see! (more…)
