Make a little mess {Lensbaby}
Monday, January 9th, 2012Today is a special day {Announcements}
Friday, January 6th, 2012My beautiful lovebird Skittles is 9 years old today. She’s the one that started by bird-crazy nature. I love her to pieces! Skittles was bred by Carrie at CLJ Aviary in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Today is also shared with the birth of baby Josh, born at only 26 weeks to my friends Rachel and Josh. No photo from me but so far they (well, me too!) are trying to be optimistic. In honor of baby Josh I will be volunteering to donate free sessions to families of preemies here in the Presidio of Monterey area. Please contact me if you are interested.
In memory of Sin {Pet}
Sunday, January 1st, 20122012 is off to a very sad start.
My brother’s lovebird, Sin, passed away a few hours ago. Little Sin only lived 9 months and she brought much joy to my family back on the East coast. Sin was bred at Jill’s Bills in Virginia.
You might know that I am the proud owner of six birds of my own, including one lovebird. I also volunteer at a bird rescue centered around providing medical care and homes for birds. I know the pain my brother suffers through. This is a photo of her from when I visited in May of last year. Poor baby.
Fly free and fly high Sin. Light up the skies the way you lit up our lives.

For each one of us, there is something that connects us to a special place in our hearts. For each it is different. A few years ago, Jane lost her horse, Spook to a long battle with cancer. I watched her lose interest in something she used to love…and matched that with my own experience at losing my horse a few years prior. Now, if you know my mom, you know that she has always sworn off tattoos, not understanding why anyone would care to immortalize something on their body.

It was a little moment, saved on that little polaroid, that changed her mind and propelled her to take a big step forward in her life. To Spook. Tattoo drawn and inked by Ben at Ben Around Tattoo in Charlottesville, VA.
